About Us
Our Story
Founded in 2019 by Ewald Beukes and Gareth Vereb, Eduvate is a South African based education start-up, on a mission to offer a variety of quality, affordable, digital education solutions to the South African, African, and eventually International markets.
Ewald and Gareth recognised that locally and globally there is an ever-increasing skills gap. This gap is partly attributed to the fact that the current education systems were designed for the industrial age, yet the industrial age ended a long time ago. The focus on content knowledge and grades is becoming obsolete and the current education system was designed for routine and fixed procedure. Learners are taught how to do something once and then expected to spend the rest of their lives doing it, but that’s not the way the world works anymore. If the status quo is simply accepted, the children in schools today will not be prepared for a future where the skills required are vastly different from what is available in current mainstream education.
Both Eduvate founders have been extensively involved in the private education space and have led organisations that have built and managed over 20 private schools in South Africa. This extensive experience combined with their passion for education and innovation lead to the creation of Eduvate.
Our Mission
Eduvate offers a range of online education products and services. At its core, is a full-time online school in which students attend live classes every day. The Eduvate offer is based on global standards and entirely covers the CAPS curriculum. The curriculum is enhanced by adding critical social, emotional, Robotics, Coding and STEM skills development. This ensures learners are ready to contribute to the future economy and world. Working together with amazing partners around the world to pioneer the use of new technology in education, as well as optimising the use of existing technology and data to improve learner outcomes at the individual level.
