Reports To: Head of Schools

Purpose of Role 

The Head of Curriculum will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the Eduvate curriculum. The Head ensures that our education objectives are aligned to CAPS frameworks and to instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence. As part of our team, you help design and create curriculum materials, and train educators on how to apply these tools through informative workshops. You will also evaluate existing curriculums and help integrate new technology, and adapt them into digital formats. The role supports professional learning by actively researching curricular trends and developments and makes recommendations consistent with Eduvates mission and overall academic goals. The role also ensures students, parents and staff have sufficient information on subject choices.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Define course objectives
  • Design content delivery and assessment methods
  • Determine ways to integrate technology into the classroom
  • Design and coordinate curriculum development and review, ensuring that review and revision of curriculum and instructional practice occurs continuously.
  • In collaboration with subject leaders, ensures that the school’s overall academic goals are promoted and integrated within and across all subject departments.
  • Works with subject leaders, teachers, and the content development teams to develop, guide, and support curricular innovation, including the development of new courses.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of curricular trends and research, reporting findings and making recommendations to the management team.
  • Report periodically to the executive team on all curriculum, instruction, and assessment matters
  • Evaluate and revise existing curriculum as needed
  • Adapt existing curriculum into digital formats
  • Provide training materials and workshops to educators
  • Supports and promotes interdisciplinary curriculum initiatives
  • Contribute to the work of the leadership team in creating engaging programmes of study and intervention
  • Overall responsibility for all curriculum matters, developing holistic and thematic approaches to learning that meet the needs of individuals
  • Provide leadership and direction for the development, revision, and continuous improvement of the curriculum

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in education, instructional design, or curriculum development
  • Previous teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5-years proven experience in a similar role
  • Sound understanding of CAPS, IEB, Cambridge and International Curriculums a significant advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled with and openness to modern technology and its thoughtful, appropriate application in an education setting
  • Ability to build relationships characterised by trust and shared commitment to a common mission and goals

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
