Reports To: Head of Tutoring
Purpose of Role
The role of the tutor is to provide support to students throughout delivery of the curriculum. An Eduvate tutor will accept ownership of successfully solving curriculum related learner problems and enquiries. It is essential that the tutor possesses a broad understanding of the CAPS curriculum and is passionate about their respective subject focus areas. Additionally, it is imperative that the tutor keeps learner success and development at the core of their work. Tutors may be required to teach live classes should a subject specific teacher be absent.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify learner’ needs, clarify information, research every issue and assist learners in understanding solutions
- Manage large amounts of inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner
- Follow communication “scripts” when handling different topics
- Seize opportunities to upsell products when they arise
- Build sustainable relationships and engage learners by taking the extra mile
- Frequently attend educational seminars to improve knowledge and performance level
- Meet personal/team qualitative and quantitative targets
- Teach live online classes where required
- Attend and participate in weekly and monthly staff meetings
- Provide regular progress reports to subject teachers and line manager
Qualifications
- Diploma in teaching or studying toward a degree in teaching required
- Bachelor’s Degree in teaching/education or similar preferred.
- Minimum 1-year proven experience as a tutor
- Other qualifications considered an advantage
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the Eduvate policies and procedures
- Strong telephone and verbal communication skills along with active listening
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively
- Strong moral values and discipline
- Strong online/computer skills

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
